Successful professional and mother of four, Kathleen McFarlane has participated in and coordinated successful community events for years. Being active has always been a big part of life for Kathleen. After playing soccer for over 15 years, she later turned to running to stay fit. Kathleen has spent the last 20 years competing in countless running events from 5ks to marathons. Following a 15 year consulting career at Accenture, Kathleen organized her first charity fitness event, the Rock’n Run 5 Miler in Loudoun County and was hooked. Blending her passion for sports with her desire to give back to the community, Kathleen founded KatMac Events to channel philanthropic endeavors around events she loves. Event planning and race organization is a perfect way to blend her program and change management skills with her love of running and passion for philanthropic events.

Kathleen now leverages her skills coordinating large scale first-class events in Northern Virginia full-time. She especially enjoys organizing first rate events in Loudoun County, partnering with local businesses to highlight the best aspects the community itself. KatMac Events has been recognized for its coordination of two of the best triathlons in Loudoun County: Infinitive Sprint Triathlon and the Dog Days of Summer Triathlon in Broadlands, VA. Both events receive praise year after year from the participants, media, and community.

In an effort to share her love of running with a new generation of athletes, Kathleen helped start a Girls on the Run program at her local elementary school in 2010. Coaching young girls has been a rewarding experience and is a great way for Kathleen to inspire girls, including her two young daughters to grow as individuals on and off the track.

Kathleen lives in Ashburn, VA with her husband, Denis and their 4 children.
